The MMDA will not let you drink and drive
From an article on The Philippine Star published October 2010.

Imagine a typical Friday night out with friends or colleagues. They pile into your car, and you drive off to a favorite bar just as the sun dips in the horizon to signal happy hour.
You push open the front glass door and spot a vacant table. Your parched throat is aching for a bottle of brew, and you are about ready to order five of them for yourself. The waiter approaches with his pad of order slips. But before you make the order, he declares: “Who among you are driving?”
You scratch your head, and raise your hand.
“Sir, per city ordinance, we will be limiting your orders to two bottles of beer. But you may order as many glasses of iced tea as you want,” he says to you.
One of your drinking buddies pats your shoulder in commiseration. “Don’t worry, I’ll drink your share,” he says with a smile.

Apparently, the MMDA Chairman is proposing an ordinance that will require bars and other establishments to limit the sale of alcoholic drinks, particularly those who drive home. The proposal is an attempt to address the problem of drunk driving which most often is the cause of the many road accidents in the country.
The move has very good intentions but it goes against an individual’s right to pursue his pleasures. Shouldn’t the government be more strict in apprehending drunk drivers on the streets instead? And apprehension means, going directly to jail instead of bribing his way to get home.
Business owners will definitely react to this proposal, since their sales will be affected. Also, how will the government make sure that all establishments will follow whatever standards they will come up with? If its hard for our law enforcers to apprehend drunk drivers, I’m sure it will even be harder to close down establishments that do not follow.
Do you agree with the MMDA?
If your matured enough to drink, you know your limits. Especially When your driving.
depende sa tao talaga yan ako palagi nagtitira ng pang uwi..pag hindi kaya park then tulog..or pag malayo naghahanap ng pinakamalapit na hotel para mag check in..mas mabagal ako mag drive pag nakainom
i think it’s a good move. prevention IS better than apprehension.
Drinking and driving doesn’t mix. Alcohol greatly impairs your judgement and reflexes when you drive under its influence. Always remember this when you drink and drive, you are not only putting your life in danger but others life’s and properties too. PLEASE DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE!
hehehe, ok lng siguro basta 1 bottle at maximum….1 bottle cant make you drunk nmn…i think hehehe..but who am i to set such rule…if youre goin to drink…dont drive…everybody can walk…at least to the next bar hehehe
its an idea… pero kapos… how would the waiter/establishment know kung ilan na yun inorder ng driver… baka yun buddies nya mag order for him…. kaunting brainstorming pa….
zero alcohol zero accident”
